As a follow-up to our last conversation with Dr. Bernardo Ferdman, we now address his comments on some of the skills needed to become a successful global worker. In his opinion people need to separate their actual experiences from previous interpretations. That is, the meanings we thought were truisms may in fact change across cultures, so dealing with diversity by including those interpretations is a key driver to success.
Moreover, Dr. Ferdman sees globalization as a great opportunity to improve individual, group and overall workplace performance. Knowing and understanding the cross-cultural differences may result in a better world in which to live.
